Support Family Movies: Go See The Muppets This Weekend

Saw The Muppets with our goddaughters. A great time at the movies. Nice to finally see a G rated movie again--it was PG because of the fart jokes, but really, a G film overall. Take your family. Let Hollywood know you support movies like this. My fav song was, "Are You A Muppet or a Man?":

Good NPR interview w/Jason Segel, (How I Met Your Mother), the actor/fan who rebooted The Muppets.

Praying today for the family and loved ones of a great Civil Right Saint, The Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth

Giving Back His Salary: Superintendent Larry Powell

From ABC News: "On Aug. 31, Powell will retire and then be hired back to fill the remainder of his four year term, reducing his now $250,000 annual salary to $31,020. The move will add over $800,000 to county schools over the next three years."

Have a Blessed Sunday: Go to Worship Service and Bring a Friend

Have a blessed Sunday, everybody! Go to a worship service, take somebody with you and reflect on what a blessing it is to wake up every morning. To paraphrase H. H. Breaker Morant: Live each day as if it's your last, 'cause one day, it will be.

James 4:14-17

New International Version (NIV)
14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. 17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

Capped off wonderful bday w/a movie date. Saw The Adjustment Bureau w/me gal. Ending needed an adjustment.
Overall, the flick lacked a sense of urgency. Didn't feel 4 the characters as much as I should have.
Wonder what director Chris Nolan would have done w/it?
Also, no need 4 cursing in movies like this. I still give it 3 stars. The director, George Nolfi, who wrote The Bourne Ultimatum, does have skills. Looking forward to his future projects.

Marquita Lister's interview is a Blessing

I recently heard a wonderful interview conducted by MetroConnection
with opera star, Marquita Lister.
(Click Here to Listen | Click Here to Read the Transcript)

Although I heard Ms. Lister via the radio, her beautiful soul
just radiated throughout. When you see the picture on her
Web site, it confirms her outer beauty as well.
http://www.marquitalister.com/Bio_English.htm

In the interview, she gave a powerful testimony of how
she is overcoming a rare disease that I am also blessed to
have, called "Polymyositis." I've written in the past how
this muscle disorder has blessed me and just listening
to Marquita, I'm sure she's already blessed others by
showing how God can work in one's life to overcome
illness.

Be sure to support this wonderful soprano. Buy
her music and donate to her the scholarship she
supports. I plan to do both:

Praise God for Health Care--Pray 1st Congress

As the bills for my recent ER and hospital stays come in the mail, I am so thankful to God for quality, affordable Health Care.

If any member of Congress wants to totally scrap the Health Care Law I suggest you pray first, then make a symbolic first step: Cancel the Govt. sponsored health care that you were provided. Then, if you have children, cancel their policy if they are under the age 27, as they are required to be covered under the current law.

I agree that the Health Care bill needs to be improved in certain areas, but throwing it out completely is not the answer. Again, pray first before you act, members of Congress.

As for the budget deficit, I agree, it's far too high. Again, Congress, take the first step, rescind the pay raise you voted for and received last year. Cut the salaries of all of your staffers as well before consulting them. (I'm being sarcastic, but please pray before you do anything Congressfolk. ) I'll certainly continue to keep you in prayer.
